Wuxuan Confucius Temple, also known as the Temple of Confucius
Also called Huangxueguan, it is a memorial and sacrificial shrine for Confucius and the earliest site for education in Wuxuan County. The temple was relocated here from the old county town (now Jiuxian Village, Sanli Town) in the sixth year of the Xuande era of the Ming Dynasty (1431), located at the left corner of the southern gate (its current site). Facing south and overlooking the Qianjiang River, with the Wenbi Peak directly ahead, the temple sits on high ground with a grand and majestic layout, making it a spectacular sight. Covering an area of 4,760 square meters, it is one of the largest existing Confucius temples in Guangxi. Having undergone successive renovations during the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods, it now features a palatial architectural complex built in the hip-and-gable wooden-bracket style, including a screen wall, east and west wing rooms, the Gate of Rites, the Gate of Righteousness, the Lingxing Gate, the Number One Scholar Bridge, the Pan Pond, the Grand Gate, the Shrine of Eminent Officials, the Shrine of Local Sages, east and west side halls, a terrace, the Dacheng Hall, the Shrine of Venerated Sage, the Scripture Tower, and the Hall of Enlightenment. In May 1984, the county government designated the temple as one of the “First Batch of Key Cultural Relics Protection Units in Wuxuan County.” In 2000, the autonomous region government listed it as a “Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of the Autonomous Region.” In 2002, the Liuzhou Regional Committee and Liuzhou Regional Administration approved Wuxuan Confucius Temple as one of the “Second Batch of Patriotic Education Bases in the Liuzhou Region.”
