Pinglong Reservoir

Pinglong Reservoir is located in Pinglong Village, Menggong Township, Qintang District, Guigang City, Guangxi. It sits on the Dingbu River, the upper reaches of the Liyu River, a tributary of the Yu River in the Xijiang River system. The reservoir is 33 km from downtown Guigang and is a large (Type 2) multi-purpose reservoir primarily used for irrigation, while also serving functions such as power generation, flood control, and water supply. The catchment area above the dam site is 256 km², with a total storage capacity of 124 million m³ and a designed irrigation area of 216,100 mu. Construction of the reservoir began in December 1957 and it was put into use in June 1958.
