Taiping Lion Mountain is located in the suburbs, about 2.5 kilometers from Taiping Town, Teng County, Wuzhou City, in the eastern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. National Highway 321, which runs from Guilin to Wuzhou, passes at the foot of the mountain. It is 90 kilometers from Wuzhou City and 242 kilometers from Guilin City. The Lion Mountain is a mountainous natural scenic area. In 1988, it was designated as one of the first batch of scenic spots in Guangxi, and in 2002, it was rated as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration.

The total area of Lion Mountain is 45 square kilometers, spanning from Liangtong Shijiao Village in Liangdong, Taiping Town in the east, to Shitang Village in Anfu in the west, to Shuangde Village in Mengjiang in the south, and to Longkou Village in Qizheng in the north. Formed 70 million years ago, the mountain features unique landforms shaped by crustal uplift and weathering, erosion, and scouring by the sun, wind, and rain—resulting in mountaintop plateaus, towering cliffs, peculiar rocky outcrops, deep valleys, as well as lush forests and clear waters. It is a rare forest park in Guangxi characterized by Danxia landform.

Lion Mountain consists of low hills that rise abruptly, presenting a majestic and spectacular sight. Its ridges are covered with dense forests and vines, while red peaks stand tall, valleys run deep, and rocks display striking colors. The contrast between four different landscape elements—peaks, cliffs, valleys, and rocks—creates a scene of rugged red cliffs that is both magical and beautiful, as well as grand and imposing. Lion Mountain was once a settlement of the ancient Baiyue people and the birthplace of the renowned Song Dynasty Buddhist monk Qisong. Taiping Town: Taiping Town is located in the northern part of Teng County, about 60 kilometers from the county seat. National Highway 321 runs north-south through the town and serves as the economic, cultural, and transportation hub of northern Teng County. It is the largest market town in Wuzhou City and has been listed by the autonomous region as one of Guangxi’s top ten towns. The town covers an area of 279 square kilometers, governs 20 village committees and 3 neighborhood committees, and has a total population of 94,000, including over 30,000 permanent residents in the urban area.
