From the world’s driest desert to Patagonian glaciers, this route covers Chile’s most stunning landscapes in one journey.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1–2: Santiago → Day 3: Valparaiso → Day 4–5: Atacama → Day 6–9: Torres del Paine National Park → Day 10: Return. Flights from Santiago to Calama take about 2 hours, and to Punta Arenas about 3.5 hours. These two cities, one in the north and one in the south, showcase Chile’s most extreme terrains.

Days 1–3 Central Chile: Cities and Wine Country

  • Day 1: Arrive in Santiago → Visit Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and Santa Lucia Hill → Enjoy dinner with seafood and wine.
  • Day 2: Day trip to Central Valley wineries (such as Concha y Toro, Montes) → Return to Santiago, evening stroll in Bellavista neighborhood.
  • Day 3: Explore colorful Valparaiso and its funiculars → Walk along the beach in nearby Viña del Mar.

Days 4–5 Atacama: Desert and Starry Skies

  • Day 4: Fly to Calama, then transfer to San Pedro → Watch the sunset in the Moon Valley, admire the surreal salt and rock formations.
  • Day 5: Morning tour to the Tatio Geysers → Visit a highland lake or salt flat → Evening stargazing tour to experience some of the best night skies on Earth.

Days 6–9 Torres del Paine National Park: Hiking Highlights

  • Day 6: Fly to Punta Arenas, then transfer to Puerto Natales to enter Torres del Paine National Park.
  • Day 7: Day trip to Grey Glacier or Pehoé Lake, take a boat to get close to the glacier walls.
  • Day 8: Hike to the Base of the Towers (Las Torres), an all-day round trip of about 8–10 hours.
  • Day 9: Short hike to French Valley or viewpoints, return to Puerto Natales in the afternoon for rest.

Day 10 Return

Fly back from Punta Arenas to Santiago, then connect onward. If time allows, add a 2-day Easter Island extension to see the Moai statues and Rapa Nui culture.

  • Weather in Patagonia is unpredictable—pack waterproof gear and allow flexible days.
  • Atacama sits at around 2,400 meters altitude, and the geysers reach up to 4,300 meters—take precautions against altitude sickness.
