Intercity Travel
Argentina is huge—flying is the fastest way to get between cities. A flight from Buenos Aires to Iguazú takes about 1 hour 50 minutes, to El Calafate about 3 hours 20 minutes, and to Ushuaia about 3 hours 40 minutes. Long-distance buses are comfortable but time-consuming, better suited for shorter trips in central Argentina. Patagonian roads offer stunning scenery, but if you drive, plan fuel stops and check road conditions in advance.
City Transport
- Metro (Subte) & Buses: In Buenos Aires, use the SUBE card, which can be bought and topped up at convenience stores.
- Taxis & Ride-Hailing: Taxis are readily available in urban areas, and ride-hailing services offer transparent pricing.
- Bicycles: The capital has a public bike-sharing system and dedicated cycling lanes.
Tips
- For domestic flights, arrive at the airport at least 2 hours early—baggage rules are strict.
- The SUBE card can be shared among multiple people, but each person must tap their own card.
- If driving in Patagonia, check tire pressure and spare tires, and drive cautiously on windy roads.
