Experience the city, waterfalls, and Patagonian glaciers all in one trip – the most reliable choice for first-time visitors to Argentina.

Itinerary Overview

Days 1–3: Buenos Aires → Days 4–5: Puerto Iguazu → Days 6–8: El Calafate & the Glaciers. Domestic flights are the main mode of transport, with a roughly 1 hour 50 minute flight from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu and about 3 hours 20 minutes to El Calafate.

Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires

Head into the city after landing, stroll around Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada, explore the San Telmo neighbourhood in the afternoon, and enjoy the city lights at the Obelisco and Avenida 9 de Julio in the evening.

Day 2: La Boca & Tango

Visit the colourful Caminito street and La Bombonera stadium in La Boca in the morning, check out the modern architecture in Puerto Madero in the afternoon, and catch a tango show in the evening to experience the city’s soul.

Day 3: Recoleta & Palermo

Explore Recoleta Cemetery and the art gallery in the morning, then head to Palermo Park and shopping area in the afternoon. Fly to Puerto Iguazu in the evening.

Day 4: Puerto Iguazu & the Triple Frontier

Arrive in Puerto Iguazu and visit the Triple Frontier landmark in the afternoon to observe the confluence of the Iguazu and Paraná rivers and take in the meeting point of three countries.

Day 5: Iguazu National Park

Spend the whole day exploring Iguazu National Park, walking the Devil’s Throat catwalk and the upper and lower trails. Optional boat rides let you get close to the falls. Bring a rain jacket—the catwalks get very misty.

Day 6–8: Patagonia & the Glaciers

  • Day 6: Fly to El Calafate and take an afternoon walk by Lake Argentino.
  • Day 7: Spend the day at Perito Moreno Glacier, walk along the catwalks to watch icefalls, and optionally try ice trekking.
  • Day 8: Take a boat tour on Lake Argentino or go hiking near El Chaltén to see Mount Fitz Roy, then begin your journey back.

Tips

  • Bring a rain jacket for Iguazu Falls—the catwalks are very misty.
  • Patagonia’s weather is unpredictable; dress warmly and windproof even in summer.
  • Choose morning domestic flights when possible—delays due to weather are common in the south.
