How to use visa-free entry, when to visit to avoid the heat, daily spending estimates, plus key rules on Ramadan and dress code — we cover it all here.
Visa & Entry
Most foreign visitors can enter the UAE visa-free for up to 30 days, with the option to extend the stay once locally for a fee. On arrival, present a return ticket and hotel reservation. Your passport should ideally be valid for at least 6 months. Entry at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports is usually quick, but queues may be longer during holidays—allow extra time.
The UAE has strict drug regulations. Common medications containing ingredients like codeine require caution; bring a prescription or ingredient list to avoid issues, and refrain from bringing prohibited drugs.
Best Time to Visit

- Hot Season (April – June): Weather gets hotter, better for indoor shopping, museums, and theme parks.
- Peak Summer (July – August): Temperatures often exceed 45°C with high humidity; plan indoor activities or limit time outdoors.
