Itinerary Overview
Days 1–2: Port Vila and Efate Island → Days 3–4: Tanna Island (Yasur Volcano) → Days 5–7: Santo Island (Luganville). Domestic small aircraft connect the islands. The flight from Port Vila to Tanna takes about 40 minutes. Flights from Tanna to Santo may require a connection via Port Vila or a direct option—please confirm the route before booking.
Days 1–2: Port Vila and Efate Island
- Day 1: Arrive in Port Vila → Explore the city and markets → Evening seaside dining.
- Day 2: Half-day at Mele Cascades → Snorkel at Hideaway Island’s Underwater Post Office → Return to the city to rest.
Days 3–4: Tanna Island: Yasur Volcano
- Day 3: Fly to Tanna Island → Visit traditional villages and experience kava → In the evening, climb Yasur Volcano to watch lava eruptions.
- Day 4: Explore the volcanic ash plains and nearby beaches, Blue Cave → Return to Port Vila in the afternoon.
Days 5–7: Santo Island: Shipwrecks and Beaches
- Day 5: Fly to Luganville → In the afternoon, visit the SS President Coolidge shipwreck dive site or snorkel spot.
- Day 6: Head to Champagne Beach and the Blue Cave, passing through the fishing village of Port Olry.
- Day 7: Free time in the morning, return to Port Vila in the afternoon, then connect to your international flight out.
Tips
- The volcano sunset and night lava viewing are the most spectacular—be sure to go with a guide and bring a jacket and flashlight.
- Bring your diving certification and motion sickness medication. The Santo shipwrecks are deep and suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
- Domestic flights have limited baggage allowances—contact the airline in advance if you have excess luggage.
