Day 1: Arrive in Malé or Hulhulé → Days 2–4: Resort Island (Overwater Villas & Snorkeling) → Days 5–6: Local Island Maafushi (Island Hopping, Sandbanks & Dolphin Cruises) → Day 7: Return to Malé for Departure. Most resort islands require seaplane or speedboat transfers, while local islands can be reached via public speedboats.
If your flight arrives in the evening, it’s best to stay overnight in Hulhulé and transfer to the resort island the next day by seaplane or speedboat, as seaplanes only operate during daylight hours. In the evening, take a stroll along Hulhulé’s artificial beach or explore Malé’s old chapel and presidential palace to experience the capital’s local vibe.
Check into an overwater villa upon arrival and slow down the pace: watch the sunrise from your terrace in the morning, snorkel in the lagoon in front of your villa in the morning, join a snorkeling or diving trip in the afternoon, enjoy a seafood dinner at a beachfront restaurant in the evening, and stargaze from your villa at night. The next day, you can go dolphin watching or try dusk fishing, and on the third day, opt for a spa treatment or a picnic on a deserted sandbank if time allows. Note that all-inclusive and half-board packages vary greatly—check included meals and activities when booking.
Take a speedboat to the local island of Maafushi, where budget-friendly guesthouses and local restaurants are concentrated. During the day, join a snorkeling trip to nearby reefs to see turtles, nurse sharks, and coral, or relax on a deserted sandbank for a picnic and photos. In the evening, go on a sunset dolphin cruise, then hang out at a local café in the evening with residents watching sports—experience real Maldivian life. Dress modestly on the island; swimsuits are only allowed on designated beaches.
Take a speedboat back to Malé or go directly to the airport island in the morning. Do some last-minute shopping for canned tuna, lacquerware, and handmade souvenirs before departing from Velana International Airport. Allow plenty of time for check-in and security, and remember not to fly within 24 hours after diving.
