Classic 7-Day Marshall Islands Itinerary: Majuro Atoll — Arno — Outer Atolls on a Liveaboard
Itineraries 2026-10-03 0 views 7 Days
Base yourself in Majuro for seven days to explore lagoon island-hopping, the Alele Museum, Laura Beach, and the Arno Atoll, while keeping flexible windows for Bikini Atoll liveaboards or outer island trips to account for weather and schedule uncertainties.

Itinerary Overview

Flights and boat services to the outer atolls are highly unreliable. This itinerary is designed with 5 nights in Majuro Atoll + 2 flexible days: core experiences are focused within the lagoon, with outer island activities adaptable based on daily weather and transport availability.

Day 1–2 Majuro: City & History

  • Day 1: Arrive at Majuro Airport (MAJ, located on the eastern section of the lagoon island) → Check into your hotel → Evening stroll along the lagoon to watch the sunset.
  • Day 2: Morning visit to the Alele Museum to see stick charts, mat- and canoe-making models → Explore the Capitol Building and WWII sites → Afternoon visit to a local craft workshop to observe Jaki-ed weaving and buy directly from artisans.

Day 3–4 Lagoon Island-Hopping

  • Day 3: Full-day lagoon boat tour: Snorkeling at small islands like Eneko, coconut grove picnic, and canoeing experience; most tours include lunch.
  • Day 4: Half-day at Laura Beach: Majuro Atoll’s best sandy beach and village gardens → Stop by the local fish market on the way back → Evening homestay dinner featuring fish cooked in coconut milk.

Day 5 Arno Atoll Day Trip

Take a boat or small flight to Arno: Known for its white sand beaches and shells, visit traditional villages, breadfruit plantations, and learn about hand-weaving and copra production. If the sea is too rough, opt for a day of lagoon fishing or paddleboarding instead.

Day 6 Flexible Window

Set aside a day for weather or transport changes: You can schedule a second island-hop, scuba diving (local dive shops are based in Majuro), or connect to a Bikini Atoll liveaboard departure (Bikini trips are booked separately per voyage, usually departing from Majuro with 6–10 days at sea and costing several thousand USD).

Day 7 Departure

Morning free time to shop for woven hats and shell souvenirs → Head to the airport for departure via Guam or Honolulu. Island flights often depart late at night, so avoid scheduling water activities on this day.

Tips

  • Transport to the outer atolls relies on Air Marshall Islands small planes and boats, which have high cancellation rates. Never plan your last one or two days for outer islands.
  • Cash is king throughout your trip — withdraw all needed funds before leaving Majuro.
  • Lagoon day tours cost around 80–150 USD per person, including boat, lunch, and snorkeling gear.
