Days 1–3: Grande Comore Island → Days 4–5: Mohéli Island → Days 6–7: Anjouan Island. Ferries and small planes connect the islands, with schedules subject to weather conditions. Please allow flexibility in your schedule.
Upon arrival in Moroni, explore the old town: the Old Friday Mosque and its minaret, Arabic-style streets, and the port market. Shop for ylang-ylang essential oil and local spices. Watch the sunset along the coastal area in the evening.
Hike Mount Karthala (approximately 2,361 meters), an active volcano with one of the largest volcanic craters in the world, accompanied by a guide. At the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the vast crater and the entire island. The hike takes about a full day, so bring plenty of water and warm clothing.
Drive along the coastal road around the island, visiting black sand beaches, lava formations, and spice plantations. Learn about the cultivation and processing of ylang-ylang, vanilla, and cloves along the way.
Take a ferry or small plane to Mohéli Island. Upon arrival, relax in the Fomboni area and take an afternoon stroll on the beach to soak in the tranquility of the Spice Islands.
Visit Mohéli Marine Park to snorkel among coral reefs and tropical fish. The park is also a nesting site for green sea turtles, and the surrounding waters are home to the coelacanth, known as a living fossil. Join activities only through authorized operators, and do not collect or take any protected species or their products.
Take a ferry or small plane to Anjouan Island. Visit the old town of Mutsamudu and its ancient fortress, wander through traditional neighborhoods and rice terraces, and experience the blend of Arab and Swahili cultures.
Spend the morning at the markets and by the seaside in Anjouan. In the afternoon, depart for Moroni according to your flight schedule or leave the country directly.
