Itinerary Overview

D1–D3: Damascus → D4–D5: Aleppo → D6: Palmyra → D7: Return to Damascus. If the situation improves, this route offers the deepest insight into the richness of Syrian civilization.

D1–D3 Damascus: City of Empires

  • D1 (Conceptual): Entrance to the Hamidiyah Souq in the Old City → Umayyad Mosque, admire the sacred site formed by layers of a 3rd-century temple and Byzantine church, along with its golden mosaics → evening mint tea at an Old City café.
  • D2 (Conceptual): Visit Azem Palace to appreciate 18th-century Damascene courtyard architecture → Saint Ananias Chapel to explore legends from the apostolic age → stroll along the Barada River.
  • D3 (Conceptual): Take a car ride up Mount Qasioun for a panoramic view of the city → visit the Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque in the suburbs → return to the city to shop for Damascus brocade and wooden inlaid handicrafts.

D4–D5 Aleppo: Castle and Souks

  • D4 (Conceptual): Climb Aleppo Citadel, a massive fortress atop a hill in the city and a masterpiece of medieval military architecture → spend the afternoon exploring the Old City souks and caravanserais.
  • D5 (Conceptual): Head outside the city to visit the UNESCO-listed Krak des Chevaliers, a Crusader-era fortress marvel.

D6 Palmyra: Desert Bride (Conceptual)

Drive deep into the Syrian desert to visit the ancient Silk Road city of Palmyra, including the colonnaded Temple of Bel, the Arch of Triumph, and the valley of tombs. It is important to note with sadness that Palmyra suffered severe damage during the conflict, with many ruins destroyed—this serves as a direct testament to how war can consume civilization.

D7 Return (Conceptual)

Return to Damascus and take a final stroll and moment of reflection in the Old City. If the situation stabilizes in the future, be sure to check the latest consular advisories and security conditions before traveling.
