Itineraries 2026-10-03 0 views 7 Days
Centered on the central West Bank, this itinerary connects Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho, and Hebron, balancing religious sites with daily life in local markets. The pace is relaxed yet fulfilling.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Ramallah → Day 2–3: Bethlehem → Day 4: Jericho and the Dead Sea → Day 5: Nablus → Day 6: Hebron → Day 7: Return. The route primarily covers central West Bank areas, with most intercity drives lasting 30–90 minutes. However, due to checkpoints and road conditions, allow buffer time for each leg.

Day 1: Arrival in Ramallah

After arrival, settle into your accommodation. In the afternoon, visit Einstein Circle in the city center and the Old City market. Enjoy an Arabic coffee with mint tea at a café in the evening. As the administrative center of the Palestinian National Authority, Ramallah has a vibrant cultural scene—take your time exploring its cultural centers and bookstores. Dinner can include local grilled meats and hummus.

Day 2–3: Bethlehem

  • Day 2: Church of the Nativity and the Basilica of the Nativity (believed to be the birthplace of Jesus and a UNESCO World Heritage Site) → St. Catherine’s Church → Manger Square → Old City artisan market for olive wood carvings and embroidery.
  • Day 3: Milk Grotto Chapel → Shepherds’ Field → Palestinian Heritage Center → try knafeh dessert at the market in the evening. Visiting the Church of the Nativity involves queuing to enter the underground cave; arrive early in the morning.

Day 4: Jericho and the Dead Sea

Jericho is considered one of the world’s oldest agricultural settlements. Visit its archaeological sites and take the cable car up to Mount of Temptation. Later, head to the Dead Sea shores for a float. The Jericho area remains warm year-round—avoid the midday sun in summer, stay hydrated, and use sunscreen. When floating in the Dead Sea, avoid getting water in your eyes or open wounds.

Day 5: Nablus

Nablus Old City’s Khan al-Tujjar market is famous for handmade soap and traditional sweets. You can also visit the Samaritan community and Jacob’s Well. The area has a strong traditional atmosphere, with narrow alleyways—travel with a companion and consider hiring a local guide. Respect local customs and daily routines.

Day 6: Hebron

Hebron Old City retains a distinct local character. Visit the outer areas of the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City market to experience local handicrafts and daily life. Some parts of the Old City have special access arrangements—follow on-site signs and avoid lingering or taking photos in sensitive areas.

Day 7: Return and Departure

Return to Ramallah or go directly to the border crossing for departure. Clearance times are unpredictable—allow at least half a day for flexibility and to avoid missing your flight. Before leaving, double-check the crossing’s opening hours and required documents.

Tips

  • Intercity transport mainly consists of shared taxis (servees) and private cars. Private cars offer more flexibility but are more expensive.
  • Carry your passport and any necessary permits, and cooperate with checkpoint staff. Allow extra time when passing through.
  • Some transportation and businesses may be affected on Fridays and Jewish Sabbath days—plan accordingly.
