Combination and Seasonal Tips
These attractions are naturally grouped by island: Santiago focuses on history, Fogo on hiking, Sal on beaches, and São Vicente & Boa Vista on music and ecology. When time allows, it’s recommended to visit at least two islands with different landscapes to fully appreciate the meaning of 'ten islands, ten scenes'. Many historical sites like Old Town and forts have specific opening hours and modest entry fees, while natural attractions are mostly free but can be remote—bring your own water and sun protection. Turtle nesting season and Carnival (usually in February) see high accommodation demand, so book early. Guides and climbing permits also need to be reserved one to two days in advance through your hotel.
