Day 1–2: Andorra la Vella & Caldea → Day 3–4: Skiing at Grandvalira (switch to hiking in the Madriu Valley during summer) → Day 5: Ordino & Coma Pedrosa → Day 6: Vallnord Pal-Arinsal → Day 7: Return to Barcelona. In winter, follow the skiing itinerary; in summer, replace the ski days with hiking and mountain biking. Recommended accommodation is split between Andorra la Vella and Encamp.
One of Europe’s largest ski areas, with slopes stretching between Pas de la Casa and Encamp: On Day 3, take the lift from Canillo or Encamp, focus on blue and red runs, and book a lesson with a ski school. On Day 4, tackle the challenging black runs and off-piste areas of Soldeu, and watch the Pyrenees sunset from a mountain restaurant. In summer, the same area offers hiking and alpine coaster (tobotronc) rides, including a nearly 6-km descent from the mountaintop.
In the morning, hike part of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley UNESCO World Heritage route, where stone paths connect Romanesque churches and Iron Age settlement ruins. In the afternoon, visit the town of Ordino to see the frescoes in the Church of Sant Martí. Hikers with energy left can trek toward Coma Pedrosa, Andorra’s highest peak.
In winter, this is the Pal-Arinsal ski area, known for its wide, beginner- and intermediate-friendly slopes. In summer, it transforms into a top European mountain biking park, with lifts taking downhill bikes to the summit. Return to Andorra la Vella in the evening for last-minute duty-free shopping.
Take a bus back to Barcelona (around 3 hours). Be mindful of customs limits on alcohol, tobacco, and cosmetics.
